R.E.M., 2009.

Through the R.E.M phase of sleeping one begins to dream of hundreds of dreams. Most of what we dream is not related to what we encountered that previous day, but our subconscious is awakened, and thus most of our dreams can explain the reality of our present.
The paths our dreams take from one to another throughout the night is unpredictable and most of the time unremembered, but few familiar moments can be recollected the next morning. Through a free and pure effort I awaken the subconscious consciously and sculpt a dreamlike structure that represents the path, structure, imagination, and purity of the R.E.M. phase.

TIME, 2009.

For which reasons have we created time? The power of such a creation has such a strong grasp upon all of our lives that we are unaware of its pure inexistence. The illusion of time makes us cooperate, produce, manufacture, arrive, grow, sleep, awake, etc… Would life still survive if such an invention would not exist? Would there be chaos, peace, happiness, or anger? For such an invention is necessary for the human population to live, to continue, and to survive. I look at the possibility of what would occur if our idea of time ceased to exist. As a broken clock erupts into thousands of pieces I seek to manipulate those broken pieces, which represent the hands and muscle of man, to enlighten the viewer that as long as man shall live we shall also hold the immense power of time upright, and use it to our own intention.

PASSION/DEATH, 2009.

The abrupt arrival of death can cause multiple situations or reactions to any of us. Nevertheless, death creeps and hides around every corner, and we cross it’s path thousands of time daily. We may not all be aware of its essence and whereabouts, for death comes through many forms. For when we cross the path of a spider web we are presented with two alternate decisions. We may let that spider web live, we may have the desire to tear it down. For the death of that web, that a spider has spun brings upon a passion to its creator to make another one. Life tells us that when we knock that spider web down, then we have destroyed it, but reality tells us that the passion of a spider is stronger then a thousand swipes of a human hand. For if we decide to let that spider web stay where it was created then we pass the power of death to the spider that has spun that web for his own intentions. These intentions just so happen to bring death to those who happen to cross its path. As a fly is just happening to glide home, he is confronted with this contraption where he is faced to make two decisions. Shall he fight and struggle for his life, or shall he accept his fate and be the incentive of another’s passion?

What causes human’s to compete, to strive to win, to chase a ball? In a time where technology rules the world’s society I believe that this simple act of retrieving and achieving cannot be duplicated. Some say those who have the most talent succeed in the end, but I believe the contrary. For this simple act alone is based upon our instinctive nature as humans, and as living beings. As dogs pursue a distant thrown tennis ball, I see that instinctive nature dwelling within us too. Through the use of primitive shapes I create the physical and instinctive similarities that we share with animals and our early archaic selves.
